Ana Humljan (1979), Belgrade – moving in fields of theatre, visual art and performance. Through her research she is trying to reveal the close relation between life and art, and how one is an inevitable company of the other. Coming from a shaky Balkan, violence and pain are themes that naturally occur within her, and this atmosphere is often present in her works. At the same time (maybe as a form of escape) she is searching for a trace of hope, which even if illusionary, is a necessity that gives strength to move forward.
If you meet her, you will recognize her by the smile and cry happening on her face simultaneously.
In 1999 she became a member of Blue Theater in Belgrade, in 2007 she was co-founder of the theater group ANSAMBL MIRAŽ (Teatar Poezija), also in Belgrade, and in 2017 she became a member of the Aletheia Artistic-Cultural Association of Milan. You studied at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and participated in Marina Abramovic’s Masterclass, where she created the performance La Madre, and with whom she collaborated in the creation of the opera Balkan Erotic Epic.
